Travelling with a child who needs a passport? Every Irish citizen, including infants, must possess his or her own passport. You are not allowed to represent other members of the family inside your passport. Your child must be 15 years old or younger to apply for a Child Passport and be recognized as an Irish citizen.
Important Information for Obtaining a Child Passport
- How long will a Child Passport be valid? If the child passport was issued when your child was 16 years of age or older, it will be valid for 10 years. If the child passport was issued when your child was 15 years of age or younger, it will be valid for 5 years.
